China-based
solar-panel supplier Trina Solar Ltd. (TSL) announced Tuesday the resignation of

who is also a top executive at embattled Chinese power company A-Power Energy
Generation Systems Ltd. (APWR), in a move that sent shares tumbling.
A-Power is among a growing group of U.S.-listed companies in China that
have seen their shares hurt by allegations of auditing irregularities.
Peter Mak,In addition to hydraulics fittings and petsupplies, A-Power's
chief financial officer and a Trina board member who had headed the solar
company's audit committee, resigned effective July 10, "to focus on other
personal and professional pursuits," the company said in a statement.
A-Power said July 5 that Mak would be leaving his post there July 15, at
the end of his contract. The company, which makes power generators for large
factories in China, has been scrambling to hire an independent auditor and file

In June, A-Power said its independent auditor, MSCM LLP, left
after A-Power didn't hire an independent forensic accounting firm to review
certain business transactions.

Trina board member Jerome Corcoran, a former managing director at
Merrill Lynch's China Private Equity Group in Beijing, will replace Mak as
chairman of the company's audit committee, Trina said.
