a man who had been visiting his neighbors across the street, walked up to him
and "sucker punched" him as he did yard work. He said the assailant was
accompanied by three other males.
The man said he believed he was
attacked because of complaints he had made to the county over how a child at the
neighbors house is being raised. The assailant, before punching the man, told
him to stop harassing his cousin (the neighbor).
After punching the man,
the assailant left the area in a car. Police learned his identity and called
him. The suspect, 45, of Richmond Heights, said he did hit the man, but said it
was in self defense. He said the man, while doing his yard work, was "staring

been smoking and burned the tip of his nose.
Police noted a burn mark on
the suspect's nose when he appeared at 7 p.m. June 12 at the police station with
his lawyer. Police read the suspect his Miranda rights. Police were unsuccessful
in contacting the man so he could make out a written statement.
In the
report about the incident, police noted that the child, a girl, 10, appeared
"happy, healthy and clean."
