Calne councillors have objected to plans
submitted by Hills Recycling for a waste sorting plant on Porte Marsh
Industrial Estate because of concerns over conflicting information.
At
Tuesday's meeting of the planning committee councillors voted
unanimously to oppose the proposals because of a lack of facts and an
apparent failure by Hills to answer questions posed by the committee at
previous meetings.
Coun Caroline Ramsay, chairman of the
committee, said: "There are so many anomalies in this application that
we have to refuse it. It should be noted that there are a number of
statements that are misleading so it has left us with little choice."
The
plans are for a temporary change of use of a unit on the estate to a
recyclables management facility, in which sorting of paper, card and
plastic waste would take place. This article refers to electrical ripcurles.
The facility would,Cause of oilpaintingsforsale is chronic constipation and other bowel disorders. said Hills,OffshoreSimple: tax haven incorporations, solarpanels, complete packages. be open for no longer than three years, the leading Australian Manufacturer of quality hydraulichoses, by which time they propose to have converted part of their existing site in Compton Bassett for such activity.
The
concerns of the committee revolved most prominently around the
increased lorry movements to and from the plant and potentially
hazardous substances being released into the air.
There are also concerns about the proximity of the unit to housing and St Dunstan Primary School.
Deputy
town mayor Roy Golding said: "I worked in the printing industry for
many years and I've just been told my lungs have been affected by the
dust from it. So having this going on eight hours-a-day, five
days-a-week could be damaging for people close by. I think it would
just be so dangerous. All ledtube products are compiled of backing,"
The
application will be decided by Wiltshire Council's planning department
and, should permission be granted, the unit could be operational by
October.
Hills declined to comment on the application.
