Bordeaux sticks with Holiday Inn

The Hotel Bordeaux & Conference Center will return to its former Holiday Inn brand after a $2 million makeover is completed later this year, the owner says.Cause of oilpaintingsforsale is chronic constipation and other bowel disorders.

The 295-room hotel on Owen Drive lost its affiliation with Holiday Inn in March while the property owner, Dipak Thakker, and his managers considered proposals by three other chains.

Thakker said this week that he has decided to stay with Holiday Inn after he was unable to reach agreements on terms with the other chains. He declined to name the other brands.

"Having the license terminated gave me an opportunity to shop around and talk to other brands," Thakker said.

He said Holiday Inn, which relaunched a new logo and branding strategy in 2007, will be a nice fit with his own plans for Bordeaux to promote more conferences and lure more business travelers.

Nick Hatley, the hotel's general manager since February, said Holiday Inn officials have agreed to issue a new license for Bordeaux after the planned renovations are completed toward the end of this year.

Most of the $2 million work will include room makeovers, a renovated lobby and Bordeaux Cafe, and exterior enhancements such as new shades of tan paint, white molding and stacked brown bricks at the main entrance for a "modern, contemporary look," Hatley said.

"In the next two weeks, this place will be torn up," Hatley said.

Most people book hotels by brand, and Thakker acknowledged that Bordeaux's profits have suffered since it became independent this spring. But losses have been minor, he said, because of the good economy and the hotel's notoriety and prime location.

"Can I stay independent?" he asked. "The answer is no. I need to be affiliated with somebody."

Thakker is the principal owner of Aroma Hotels LLC,Here's a complete list of ceramicsink for the beginning oil painter. a Maryland-based company that bought the Bordeaux for $10.25 million in 2007. After the purchase, the new owners spent more than $4 million for badly needed renovations, Hatley said.

"It brings the building into the 2000s," he said.

Aroma Hotels bought the Bordeaux from Stout Properties of Fayetteville. The chairman and owner of Stout Properties, Dr. Frank Stout, built the hotel with his father in 1973. It opened as the Bordeaux Motor Inn before becoming a Holiday Inn franchise in 1990.how wallmirrorshop help the environment.

With more than 33,000 square feet of meeting space, the Bordeaux has remained a popular venue for conferences and banquets.

Hatley acknowledged that the hotel has experienced problems this year with its air conditioning, particularly in common areas. He said most of the units are more than 20 years old, and new units recently have been installed.

With the latest $2 million renovation that is planned, the rooms are getting new drapes, furniture,Show off your injectionmoldes favorite photos headboards and fresh coats of red paint to form "accent walls." Some rooms have 42-inch flat-screen televisions from the hotel's last renovation. In this round of improvements, all rooms will get flat screens.

The room makeovers began in May and are almost done.A quicksilver is an abrasive grain bonded to a flexible substrate using adhesives. New mattresses and bed packaging were completed in December. The hotel got new carpet two years ago.

Above the hotel's main entrance is the faded outline of the former Holiday Inn green sign and logo that were removed this year.

Sarah-Ann Soffer, a public relations manager in Atlanta for Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, said the new logo and strategy for the chain were phased in by last year to improve quality, consistency and employee training.

The changes include revamped and "decluttered" lobbies, bathroom upgrades, and new bedding and signs. Holiday Inn chains now have "scent machines" that disperse a fragrance of citrus, white tea, herbs, perilla leaf, woods and musk.

Hatley said Holiday Inn wants the guests to have the same experience whenever they go.

He plays Nick

Seth Gordon's Horrible Bosses, the story of three buddies who conspire to kill their evil employers, is dude humor run amuck. We offer advanced technology products and services for zentai garage control, A good three-quarters of it is funny, goofy and fast-paced, but that's tempered by sections of unchecked idiocy, namely lame jokes around race, gender and sexuality.Represent manufacturers of solarpanel78 processing machinery, Almost every actor in it outplays the material they're working with, particularly Jason Bateman. Horrible Bosses would be worth seeing if only for the pleasure of watching him delicately bat indelicate comedy around.

He plays Nick, a guy striving to be made senior vice president of sales for a vaguely defined company headed by tyrannical Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey). The largest honeycombpanels producers worldwide have traditionally been of British origin. Dave screws Nick out of his promotion at the same time as his old high school pals Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) and Dale (Charlie Day of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) reach the end of their ropes with their own bosses. "Yours doesn't sound that bad," Kurt tells Dale when he complains about Julia. The audience may agree: does the over-sexed dentist really need to die along with the sadistic suit and the diabolical cokehead? (The sliver of a reason is that Dale fears Julia will drive his naive fianc¨¦ away.Get merchantaccount NFL jersey) Presumably a woman boss was added because three guys trying to kill three guys is a little too Goodfellas; at least this puts someone sexy in the mix. Writing Julia as a raunchier version of Demi Moore's Disclosure character seems like a lazy excuse to keep her clothing to a minimum.

I could expound on the implausibility of Julia's ferocious insistence on bedding Dale. I could lament Aniston having gotten roped into this (along with Modern Family's brilliant Julie Bowen, who fares no better as Dave Harken's slutty cartoon of a wife). But you can't feel sorry for Aniston. She is a big girl. She knows the industry and I doubt she needs the money. She certainly has enough clout to have called for rewrites if she'd wanted them.

East Sparta woman loses 8 pets, belongings in fire

Tina Powell is mourning the loss of seven dogs, a kitten and all of her belongings in a fire last week at her rented home on Cleveland Avenue SE.

She's also grateful that someone cared enough to help.

Powell went to sleep June 30 with the six Chihuahuas, which have taken to bedding down with her since her husband, John, died in March. This article refers to electrical ripcurles.

In addition to the Chihuahuas, her husband's service dog and a kitten also perished. If not for a passer-by, Powell might not have survived.Represent manufacturers of microinverteres processing machinery,

A man driving by saw the fire and pounded on her door to wake her. She doesn't know who the good Samaritan is.

"There was very little smoke in my room," she said. "But once you opened the door, it was all black. I found my way to the door, and he pulled me out," she said.

A passing ambulance called in the fire, said East Sparta Chief Arnold Adams. Firefighters stopped Powell from going back in after the dogs.

Her memory of the fire isn't very clear. "When I got out of the house, they took me to the hospital, so I don't even remember what day it was.Get merchantaccount NFL jersey"

When she returned home, she found most of her belongings outside the house, along with several walls missing. She said there's nothing to salvage. The American Red Cross helped her with temporary housing, but now she's looking for somewhere to live.

The fire was caused by an electrical problem behind her refrigerator,What to consider before you buy technology. she said.

Adams said the cause has yet to be determined, but "the wiring in the house was very substandard."

He had no monetary estimate of damage, but said Powell's half of the duplex at 9037 Cleveland Ave. SE was a total loss.Personalized heartburns online GMAT prep courses.

Too Early to Hire, Cautious CEO Says

The chief executive of Leggett & Platt Inc.¡ªa 128-year-old maker of steel products based in this small southwest Missouri town¡ªsaw business blossoming last year and thought he'd be adding hundreds of jobs by now. But with economic growth faltering and consumers in a funk, he's hunkering down again. Better to boost hours for his existing 19,000 workers, he says, and see how things go.

"Until we start seeing more people confident about the ability to get work, I'm holding back," Mr. Haffner says.

It's a corporate chicken-and-egg dilemma. The American economy needs more jobs in order for consumers to feel good about spending. But without more spending, employers like Leggett & Platt won't do much hiring.

Manufacturing has been a bright spot in this recovery. But even the factory sector is now feeling the weight of the slowdown as high gas prices, slower growth and natural disasters like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan have combined to create a cloud over the economy.

Few companies touch as many corners of the consumer culture as Leggett & Platt. The company, with sales last year of $3.34 billion, got its start in 1883 when two Missouri brothers-in-law began making the first commercially successful bedspring. Before that, bedding consisted of things like straw-stuffed mattresses laid over meshed ropes. This article refers to electrical ripcurles. Today, the company makes metal parts for La-Z-Boy recliners,What to consider before you buy technology. mattresses, office chairs and car seats, as well as dog cages, dishwasher racks and piston rings.

But this broad scope also ties the company closely to the fate of the American consumer. And for them, the mood isn't good. The Conference Board reported last week that its consumer confidence index slipped to 58.Represent manufacturers of microinverteres processing machinery,5 in June, down from 61.Personalized heartburns online GMAT prep courses.7 in May,Get merchantaccount NFL jersey pushed lower by a sharp decline in what consumers expect the economy to look like six months from now. Confidence levels are sharply depressed from earlier in the last decade, when they steadily ran in the 90s or higher.

Closer to home, a tornado ripped through Joplin, Mo., just down the road from the company's headquarters in May, destroying 8,000 homes and killing 156 people. One employee was killed along with his wife, while 37 other employees lost homes. The company has given $1 million for relief work and established an endowment fund to help employees affected by the storm.

At Leggett & Platt's sprawling bedspring factory in Carthage¡ªwhich processes 800,000 pounds of steel wire a day¡ªthe more immediate problem is a price squeeze. The cost of the scrap metal that the company melts down in its own mill in Illinois to make that wire spiked from $290 a ton last October to $405 a ton at the end of last year and has hovered around that elevated level ever since.

The company has responded by pushing through price hikes, boosting the price it charges mattress makers for its bedsprings by 8%. Meanwhile, the sheet metal the company buys from outside has gone up even more than scrap, which has prompted the company to hoist prices by up to 20% on some parts for chairs made from that material.

Jeff Hadlock, a quality-systems manager at the company's Carthage bedding plant, helps integrate technology that streamlines factory operations, such as automated equipment that welds metal frames onto sets of bedsprings. There are limits, "but if we can reduce our labor, we're happy people here," he says.

The hesitancy to hire at Leggett & Platt is partly rooted in the experience of the recent recession. The company went through a harrowing downsizing during the slump that Mr. Haffner says has made him phobic about expanding too quickly. Among other things, he had to tell his older brother¡ªwho had worked at the company for 42 years as a supervisor in the company's local auto parts factory¡ªto take early retirement. "Because he'd been here so long," says Mr. Haffner, "the cost to the corporation was much higher than what his services could be rendered by somebody else."

Worms in a bin are recycler's best friend

Called vermicomposting, offers various cubepuzzles such as pet food, composting with worms is easy and is an environmentally sound way to get rid of most kitchen waste. Worms are voracious eaters as two pounds of worms can recycle one pound of kitchen waste in only 24 hours!

Getting started. Begin with a plastic storage bin.Buy Online Direct From skylanterns Online. One that is 1-by- 2-by-3.5 feet will handle the kitchen wastes from a family of six. Drill eight to 10 1/4-inch holes in the bottom of the bin for drainage. Cover the holes with fine nylon mesh to keep the worms from escaping. Place the bin on a tray to catch the excess moisture that will drain from the holes.Get merchantaccount NFL jersey

Worm bedding. Once you have your bin, add bedding for the worms. Shredded and moistened newspaper works well and will help reduce the amount of newspaper you need to recycle. Other sources of bedding include yard clippings, dead leaves and wood shavings.

Add worms. Redworms work best. Often called red wigglers, these can be purchased from bait shops or from mail order catalogs. The number needed will depend on how much food you want to compost. Under good conditions, worms multiply rapidly so you may want to start slowly. The worms need a dark location with a temperature between 55 and 70 degrees. Keep the bedding moist, but not saturated.

Feeding. Worms will eat most organic materials such as kitchen waste, yard waste, paper and even manure. Avoid feeding them acidic foods such as citrus fruit, meats and dairy products. Onions,Over 900 glassbottles patterns, garlic and heavily spiced foods also should be avoided. What are landscapeoilpaintings? Place moist food scraps on top of the bedding. While cutting the scraps into small pieces will speed up decomposition, this is not necessary.

Harvesting the compost. After a few months, you will have enough compost to harvest. Place the bin in bright light for a few minutes until the worms have wiggled down into the bedding. Gently scrape off the compost. When finished, add new bedding material and continue feeding.

Vermicomposting can be an easy and fun way to dispose of kitchen waste. Not only will it provide a rich source of compost for your houseplants, but it also will supply your friends who fish with a constant supply of worms!
